Philosophical Curriculum
As the social aspect of education is rooted in tradition and is considered the“enemy of progress” the philosophical aspect also lags behind by those interested in simply maintaining the “status quo”. As the student population in America has grown more diverse our research and our philosophies have had to work to address these changes. Not only have the population of the classrooms changed but the subjects as well. Over the last 100 years subjects that were taught in secondary school have begun to permeate elementary curriculum. Research has shown that the educational institution is only a part of the educational development of the child. Life educates the child through all experiences, with school playing a role in these experiences.
